The Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Racing Team took its first number 1 National plate with Denaye Giroux being crowned the Women’s National West champion. “We couldn’t be more excited for Denaye,” said owner/manager Jackie Maffenbeier. “Denaye has trained hard and after last seasons disappointment, wasn’t going to settle for anything but number 1.” The Yamaha 250F and Dunlop tires helped turn a sloppy track into a choice couple of motos. Hooking up with two holeshots and the SSS suspension working perfectly through the deep and long ruts, helped to propel Denaye to two moto wins for first overall on the day and clinching the number 1 Women’s West National Championship. Denaye heads down to Colorado to run her first AMA race of the season. Denaye will be trying to bring home the Canadian Women’s National Championship this August in Walton when she meets up with the Eastern ladies.

“I’m very excited to have won the West National,” said Giroux. “ I’m very happy being on a factory team this season. I want to thank Yamalube as the product along with the GYTR parts have kept my Yamaha 250F in perfect running order. Rick Bradshaw with Schrader’s out of Yorkton has been a supporter for years. Rick makes each year even better…gives me a lot of time off from work to train and ride! Derek Farthing along with Lori at Troy Lee Design Canada keep me safe with amazing looking gear, Gaerne boots and helmets and keep that up off track with their casual clothing. The SSS Suspension by Joe Skidd has been perfect this season. No matter the conditions any of these tracks throw at me, Joe keeps me dialed in. I think the Dr. D Pipe and Renegade fuel really helped in the mud today giving me the horsepower to pull through some of those deep ruts. I really want to thank Oakley, Works Connection, Renthal, Husky Oil, Crystal Fresh Water, Office Pro, TrimFx, and Lime 9 for all the support they give me. My Dad is my biggest supporter and without him hauling me around and being my mechanic, I wouldn’t even have these opportunities. Thanks also to the rest of my family as I hear their cheers the loudest!”
The Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Racing Team had lots to cheer about this weekend as MX1 450F Yamaha rider, Shawn Maffenbeier, had his best career results. “With Shawn having 6-6 motos for a 5th overall on the day was more than I was expecting,” said owner/manager Randy Maffenbeier. “In fact Shawn has already gone beyond my expectations for the season. I had certain goals in mind, but Shawn obviously has even loftier ones!”

“The first moto of day was real exciting,” said Shawn. “I was able to get a great start with my Dunlop tires and was running in 3rd for quite awhile. The SSS Suspension was working great in the crazy ruts and mud and I ended up losing my front brakes so it put me back slightly. Second moto was another great ride with another 6th place finish giving me a 5th overall for the day. It was also a great weekend in the pits as a lot of our sponsors were on hand and stopped by. Rick Bradshaw with Schrader’s Yamaha has done amazing things for our team this year. Derek Farthing from Troy Lee Design along with Lori, have been fantastic taking care of all my gear and equipment. We were even able to meet Scott from Dunlop Tires and Doug Arnette from Yorkton Dodge was able to come participate.”

Denaye Giroux, of the Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Racing Team, cast the first stone this weekend at round 2 of the Monster Energy Canadian Nationals in Nanaimo, BC. In the first moto, Denaye grabbed the holeshot and never looked back. “Denaye continued to get stronger throughout the moto developing a substantial lead,” said owner/manager Jackie Maffenbeier. “ Denaye loves to fly… she did all the jumps even better than some of the guys!”

The second moto found Denaye with a third place start, but it didn’t take her long to pull out front. “ I was definely more comfortable riding this kind of dirt,” said Giroux. “it’s closer to the hard pack I’m familiar with, with the exception of the “boulder” roost! The Dunlop tires really helped get traction through the slippery sections and I could feel the extra power from my Renegade fuel and Dr. D pipe.”
With 1-1 finishes in Nanaimo, Denaye is sitting first over all by 8 points. Round 3, of the Monster Energy Canadian pro Nationals in Calgary, AB. will be the clincher. “I’m ready to prove that I deserve the #1 plate,” said Denaye. “I really like the track and I just need to keep it on 2 wheels.”
Round 2 for the Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Racing rider, Shawn Maffenbeier, saw some tough starts. “In moto 1 I chose a poor gate. I got off the cement well, but then had to chug through some greasy mud,” said Maffenbeier. “A fall on a tight pass really put me behind but I managed to finish up 12th.”

The second moto didn’t bring a better start. “Shawn went to work,” said owner/manager Randy Maffenbeier. “Even with a stall in a corner, Shawn continued to dig past riders. His Dunlop tires churned up bolders leaving his competitors behind him weeping! The SSS suspension has really been the key for both rounds.”
With an 8th place finish in the second moto, Shawn finished with an 11th overall for the day. Heading into Round 3 in Calgary has Shawn positioned 8th overall for the series. “I’m excited. It’s my second weekend in a row in the top 10,” said Shawn. “I’m confident in my abilities and my Yamalube, Yamaha 450F.”

Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Raing Team’s, Shawn Maffenbeier # 23, broke the barrier of the top 10 this weekend in Kamloops with a 7th overall. With Kamloops producing the roughest track seen in the series, any mistakes were amplified. In moto one Shawn had some great battles dicing back and forth with Cole Siebler and Bobby Kinery. Shawn found some great lines for amazing passes that showed that this young 18 year old wants to make his mark this 2011 season. “ My goal for the first event this season was to prove to myself that I can run within the top 5 to ten,” said Shawn. “ The Yamalube Schrader’s 450F Yamaha had great power and the SSS Suspension was amazing on the treacherous track.”
The second MX 1 moto of the day saw Shawn barely get by a pile up off the start. Shawn quickly made up time and battled his way into the top 10. Even with a couple of nasty crashes in the moto Shawn managed to finish with an 8th for moto 2. “Jackie and I thought Shawn would have to settle for something outside the top 10 in moto 2,” said owner/manager Randy Maffenbeier. We were both amazed at his conditioning from PerformX and his simple determination. He never gave up and just continued to pick riders off. We’re very proud of him.”

Denaye Giroux of the Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Racing Team had a great weekend with a 2nd overall. Moto 1 saw some great action between the women with positions changing back and forth several times. “Denaye was running in first and Sidney was challenging her hard for the pass,” said owner/manager Jackie Maffenbeier. “They did some bar banging and Denaye went down in the icredibly rough sand section. Denaye got up and managed to hold on for a third place finish. “
In moto 2 Denaye pulled off the hole shot but ended up getting pushed to the outside and had to make up some time. The racing between the women was again very exciting with passing going back and forth. With about 2 laps left Denaye again was leading the race but a tip over in a corner cost her the win and she had to settle for second. “I’m disappointed with the mistakes I made,” said Denaye. “ I’ve still positioned myself well and look forward to next weekend in Nanaimo. Kamloops is the hardest track for me and with Nanaimo and Calgary being more hard pack, I’m hoping my results are better. The Yamalube Schrader’s 250F Yamaha had lots of pull and the SSS suspension helped me get through that crazy sand section.”
The Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Racing Semi is a welcome addition to the Canadian Nationals this season. Fans won’t have any problems picking out the Yamalube Schrader’s SMX Racing transporter this season! “We really wanted to be unique,” said owner/manager Jackie Maffenbeier. “We feel strongly about supporting our sponsors and our riders to the best of our abilities. We’re not just a race team; we’re an advertising alternative for our sponsors. “ “With two really good and personable Canadian riders in Shawn Maffenbeier and Denaye Giroux, we feel we can effectively promote all our sponsors this season,” said owner/manager Randy Maffenbeier.
TrimFX is a new sponsor this season, but a familiar face in Gareth Buchanan and his family out of Grande Prairie, AB. “We can’t thank Gareth and his entire crew at TrimFX for the high quality and great teamwork that has put an amazing looking transporter on the road!” said Jackie. “ We would defiantly recommend TrimFX no matter the distance.”

Now we all know you can’t forget the bling! Lime 9 Graphics did a great job helping to design a unique look for the team and making sure all the team sponsors look great on the track.

Their great looking and performance clothing and gear keep everyone safe on the track and their casual line keeps everyone classy and comfortable off the track.
