WMA in Milville

We arrived in Milville Minesota Thursday July 15th; Friday was Amateur Day, so dad signed up in the +45 and +50 classes, and he actually did really good getting 6th overall and 7th overall. The track looked awesome, and I was really excited to get out there on Saturday! I heard it was suppose to be hot that day, but I never imagined it to be as hot as it was. First practice I felt really good, and was really liking the track; I qualified 19th right behind Sarah Whitmore out of 31 girls.  By 2nd practice the track was getting pretty rough, and the heat was crazy. I couldn't pull off a faster lap time than what I already had, and it moved me down to 21st. I was a little nervous for the 1st moto, never got a very good start and had to work my way up. I felt really good for the first 4 laps, and then I felt myself getting really tired.. usually when I ride I work my way up through the pack not move backwards, so for me to get passed on the last lap really crushed my confidence.  I still managed to get 20th and I was happy with that. 20 minutes before our second moto it decided to rain, and it rained hard right up until our gate dropped. The track is built on a hill so as you can imagine it was a little slippery out there! My goal for that moto was just to stay up and stay clear of people crashing. With another bad start I made my passes moving up the pack, and I only fell once ! I was having a lot of fun by the end of that moto; it was a challenge to ride in the mud, and I was just getting used to it! I finished 18th that moto. With a 20th and 18th I finished 20th overall : )

I really wanted a top 15 but I felt pretty satisfied with how I did, and it just goes to show that I still have alot of work to do before I can get near the top 10 in that group of girls!

2010 Raymond Amateur Nationals

Had an awesome weekend with GREAT friends!  Lacy Stock, Todd Swell, and Jared Stock

I had a really good weekend at the Raymond Amateur Nationals; there was one bad day of rain, but the track only stayed muddy for the morning motos. I was really looking forward to racing with Shelby Turner again. She showed up for the Practice day on Wednesday, but she had told me she wasn't going to do the moto's because she had an enduro race to go to. I was pretty bummed about it, but I know we will have alot of racing together in the future! The Ladies A moto's I went 1-1-1 for 1st overall, and I am really happy to say that I got 19th overall in the MX2 Intermediate class having 19-17-14 results. (against 31 guys!).

We are just on our way to Milville, Minesota for another WMA Round where I hope to have better luck. I rode this track back in 2006 so at least I will be a bit familiar with what to expect.

Not a good weekend in Colorado :(

Dad, and I at the Lucas Oil Finish Line inColorado

So I am not sure if you heard or not but I didn't have a very good weekend
down in colorado. We thought we had all the jetting right on friday but
during the first practice saturday morning the bike would almost stall in
corners. So we changed a couple things for the second practice, and it
ended up being worse. So we tried a few more things and I went out for the
first moto. I got off the gate and my bike bogged everytime I gave it gas
and would almost stall in each corner. That was the first time I have ever
felt scared to ride my own bike. I finished the moto in 23rd, but I didn't
want to ride again until we fixed it. We honestly tried everything and
nothing would work so I decided not to do the second moto. We took the
bike in to get fixed yesterday and they found metal flakes in the carb. So
that's why it ran so bad. Talk about a frustrating weekend! We are on
the road to the raymond amateur nationals and hope to turn the luck around
there.

Womens Canadian Natioanl West Series

Round 2 Edmonton 2nd Amber Giroux, 1st Denaye Giroux, 3rd Karly Pozdnekoff

So the Canadian womens West National Series is now over, and with results lower than what I was expecting of myself I am left a little bummed out. Round 1 in Kamloops started off great for me I won the first moto, but the second moto I had a bad start and had to work my way up. Having only 12 minute motos now really doesn't give much time to catch up after a mistake. On the last lap of the second moto I got tangled up with a lapper and fell in a corner moving me back to 3rd. 2nd overall for the day. We then moved on to Edmonton I was feeling comfortable on the track and had great results with a 1st 1st getting the overall for the day. I was sitting 10 points ahead of everyone heading in to the last round at Calgary. I was feeling a lot of pressure that day and just was not riding like myself out there. The first moto I spun out on the concrete and had a bad start. Again I had to work my way up to the front. The track was hard to pass on but I made it back up to 3rd. After I regrouped and got myself ready for the 2nd moto I was feeling a lot better. I had a great holeshot and had things under control out front until I made a silly mistake and fell over in a corner, by the time I got my bike up it had already stalled, and it took me a bit to get it going. By this time I was at the back of the pack and to win the west I would have to make it back up to 3rd. I put my head down and charged back up only making it to 5th. I was extremely disappointed in myself. I had no one to blame but myself and a small mistake. I finished 2nd overall in the West Series. Now that a few days have passed I know what I need to work on. And I think the experience in calgary has only made me a stronger person and has made me want to push even more to do better. I am just on my way to Denver to race my 2nd WMA race this year. I am really excited and can't wait to race against the fastest girls in the world!

Welcome To The Big Leagues

Sorry it has been a while since I updated this, just been busy getting ready for Nationals!

I just arrived back home from my trip down to Sacramento, California where I raced my first Big WMA National.
Talk about Intimidating! I was so nervous going down to the starting line racing against the girls that I look up to (Jessica Patterson, Tarah Gieger, Sara Price, and Ashley Fiolek)  Our moto being AFTER the MX1 and MX2 motos as you can imagine was a little more than ROUGH!

The first Moto was up, and I got a really bad jump off of the gate, so I started in dead last, and worked my way up to 21st. These races aren't like anything back home, if you get a bad start you are pretty much screwed to get a good position because all of these girls are same speed, and faster than I am.  I definitely wasn't riding like myself, I was riding tight and was just overwhelmed by everything.

Moto 2 came around, this time I tried to not put so much pressure on myself, I got a good jump off the gate, but still ended up at the back of the pack. I felt alot better this moto, working myself up to 20th, giving me 1 point and a 23rd overall.

Going in to this race I wasn't expecting to do anything spectacular, I had been around these girls when I was in California before so i could kind of set myself up for where I stood in that field.  I wanted to go for the experience and to race with faster girls, and my main goal was to get some points.. (which I did! ) now that I got the jitters out for that round, I know I am capable of much more for the rounds to come!

I also want to point out how awesome it is to see so many WMA women under factory rigs! There was at least 10 girls getting factory support down there!

P.S.. out of all the people there we were pitted right beside Ryan Lockhart and Eric Nye.. It was good to be around people we knew!

Thanks to everyone helping me out this year:Schrader's, Yamaha, GYTR, Yamalube, Troy Lee Designs, Gaerne, Oakley, Pirelli, Perform X, Yorkton Dodge, Supertracs,Lime Nine Graphics, Orb Clothing, and of course Dad!

so that is me looking at the jump, and YES that is CHAD REED!!!!  (in the scott sweater)

WMA Cup Results

ok, so I made it back from Texas.
The weather really wasn't going our way; I never really got a good day of practice in before the event due to SNOW! (SNOW IN TEXAS!)

We had one day of mud riding at I-35 with Ryan Millar and Cole DeKonick, Ryan Lockhart had made his way down there too, as he will be helping Millar out the rest of the winter.
Thursday we made our way down to Freestone, and the weather wasn't looking very good; it had rained all that day, and when we showed up to the track it looked like it was going to be a mud race!  Friday morning came fast, and they decided to delay the practices to let the track dry out a bit. 10 am had passed and practices still had not started. Finally, the first group went out and it really didn't look as bad as I thought it was going to be.  When I showed up to the line for practice I was surprised to only see there were only 5 women signed up for the Pro Class, I was a little upset because this is the lowest amount of people there has ever been in this class. Jessica Patterson won the class of course, and the rest of us were all about the same speed or faster, which was good because I wanted to go down there and ride against faster women, and that's exactly what I got. Even though there were only 5 of us it was a very good experience for me. I know how much faster I need to get and what I need to work on.
Friday I got 4th overall in the WMA World Cup Pro Class (which paid really well! )
and There was another Texas Winter Series Race on Sunday which I got 3rd in.

#87 Lyndsay Palmer, #701 Tressa Rau, #57 ME

I Can't thank my dad enough for taking me to this event! It was alot of fun, and I met some really great people!
